The Bakkt Theater audience witnessed a special performance by Kelly Clarkson and her children
Kelly Clarkson’s live trio performance of her classic song “Heartbeat Song” was a memorable occasion, as it brought together her 9-year-old daughter, River Rose, and her son, Remington “Remy” Alexander. This special moment took place during Clarkson’s Bakkt Theater show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the family trio performed the hit synth-pop song.
Since “Heartbeat Song” is her daughter’s favorite, River Rose eagerly joined her mother on stage, adding her voice to the performance. Clarkson specifically chose this song for the occasion, and Remy, appearing natural and unfazed by the large audience, joined in as well.

Clarkson shared with the crowd that River Rose has been rocking out to this song since she was a toddler and that she loves it so much. When asked what song she wanted to sing on tour, River Rose enthusiastically replied, “Please let me sing this song.” Clarkson went on to mention that her daughter chose her own outfit for the performance and “killed it” during soundcheck.
Supporters expressed their appreciation for the heartwarming mother-daughter performance with comments like, “That’s a moment she will never forget,” and “A star is born! River Rose gained the courage to stand up and sing passionately thanks to Kelly. That’s what we adore about you, Kelly!” The next night at the residency, Clarkson invited River Rose to perform again, and this time, her 7-year-old brother, Remington Alexander, also joined in for added charm.
Clarkson’s marriage to her then-manager, Brandon Blackstock, produced both of her children. River Rose was born in June 2014, and Remington Alexander followed in April 2016, after the couple married on October 20, 2013. Their divorce was finalized in March 2022 after a lengthy legal process that garnered significant media attention.
“Heartbeat Song” was the lead single from Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece by Piece. The song was a major success, becoming her biggest hit in the last decade and achieving platinum status in the US. It also topped the US Dance Club Songs chart and several other national charts worldwide, peaking at number ten.
Written by Mitch Allan, Kara DioGuardi, Jason Evigan, and Audra Mae, “Heartbeat Song” later sparked controversy over its origins. Critics noted similarities between its melody and chords and Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 alternative rock hit “The Middle.”
In response, Clarkson clarified, “I just sang the song; I didn’t write it,” adding that she had not noticed the similarities. Despite the controversy, Jimmy Eat World’s reaction was cool, stating, “Hey, no harm, no foul.” Although a legal case seemed plausible, the band did not pursue the matter further, and they remain uncredited as co-writers of “Heartbeat Song.”
